IU Foundation

Fundraising

  • Campus Campaign.  IUF fully organizes this project and for the fifth consecutive year faculty and staff gifts surpassed the previous year total, reaching $317,455, an eight percent increase.  Contributions support IUPUI units and programs.
  • Chancellor’s Circle.  This fund provides unrestricted support for the campus Chancellor.  Donors are Indianapolis community friends, as well as faculty and staff in approximately 50/50 proportions.  FY08 saw $110,091 raised for this account.
  • Unit Support.  IUF has assigned gift officers to assist the fundraising programs of the IUPUI Schools of Science, Informatics, Physical Education and Tourism Management, and Nursing.  A full-time person is assigned to the Chancellor to support his activities with Chancellor’s Circle and events at Cedar Crest. A gift planner works with IUPUI units as required.
  • Academic Priorities.  IUF provided support for the IUPUI Signature Center initiative by designing, writing, and printing a brochure to promote the centers beyond the campus.  As new centers are added, IUF is continuing this support.
  • Other Support.  Ball Gardens restoration fundraising is driven and organized by the Corporate and Foundation Relations office of IUF.  Campus Center fundraising, including work with the Senior Academy, was also supported by IUF personnel.  Publications to support these initiatives were furnished by IUF.

Marketing

  • IUF has supported the Athletics Department by sponsoring “Rally Towels” for a home game and season ticket purchases, and sponsoring golf outings, including the one held by Samaritan’s Feet associated with Coach Ron Hunter’s effort to raise funds and shoes for African children.
  • The Cox Scholars Program is a signature program for high potential students of IUPUI. IUF has taken the lead in administering and promoting it.

Diversity

  • A development officer is assigned to prepare a fundraising plan for need-based and minority-focused scholarships in preparation for a capital campaign.  Analysis of all existing IUPUI scholarship accounts is currently in process.  In addition another development officer has been integral to the STEM initiative through a project called “Bridges to the Baccalaureate,” a collaboration between Ivy Tech and the IUPUI School of Science. Funds have been raised for this project and the development officer was also engaged with the NIH grant application preparation. A development officer is assisting the Office of External Relations in the creation of a “Neal Marshall Club” for IUPUI minority alumni.
  • IUPUI’s Student Foundation is organized by IUF and is making inroads with minority student involvement.  The numbers of participants in this program doubled in FY08 and are expected to double again in FY09.
